The Secret of Prayer
Speech as the world answering
תְּפִילָּהtefillahPrayer. Read in this study as or chozer: speech that answers rather than speech that demands.Glossary is perhaps the most accessible Chanoch movement available every day.
Torah descends.
Prayer rises.
In Torah, HaShem speaks and we receive.
In tefillah, the human being receives language from Torah and siddur and sends it back filled with the texture of an individual life.
This is אוֹר חוֹזֵרor chozerReturning light. The ascent produced by a receiver who has answered — which completes the circuit that direct light alone leaves open.Glossary.
The words may be ancient.
The longing inside them is happening now.
The siddur says רפאנו, heal us.
One person says it after a diagnosis.
Another says it for a parent.
Another says it for the wounds of the soul.
Same letters.
Different receiving vessel.
The word returns carrying something the descent did not contain in that form.
This is what Chanoch does cosmically.
Life is given.
He returns a walked life.
The command descends.
He returns fidelity.
Then the human response becomes so strong that heaven itself receives the human.
Prayer is therefore a daily rehearsal of Chanoch without requiring disappearance.
We remain here.
The words rise.
We remain standing on earth.
That is already a greater preparation for the final dwelling.
