The Na’ar
Eternal receptivity, eternal formability
Metatron is called the Na'ar, the Youth.
It seems almost paradoxical.
Why should one of the most exalted figures in the celestial hierarchy be called a youth?
Because the servant before the Infinite never reaches the age at which he can become self-originating.
Before Ein Sof, every creature remains received.
Every moment of existence is new.
Every command is present.
Every mission must be heard again.
Youth, in this register, is openness to being formed.
The perfect messenger does not harden into his own previous greatness.
He remains sendable.
The distinction is profound.
A self-enclosed being accumulates identity until identity becomes a wall.
A servant receives identity as a covenant.
He knows who he is because he knows before Whom he stands.
This may be another secret of Chanoch.
The human who was “educated”, whose very name resonates with חִינּוּךְchinuchEducation, dedication, formation. Not the insertion of information but the shaping of a person until a path becomes inhabitable from within.Glossary, becomes eternally the Youth.
The one who was formed becomes eternally formable.
The highest education is not the point at which one can no longer learn.
It is the point at which one's entire structure has become receptive to truth.
