The Angel Who Knows What It Is to Be Human
Soil memory carried into heaven
An angel created above knows its function from above.

This may be the most tender dimension of his later celestial identity.
He has known embodiment.
He has known the divided will.
He has known the possibility of failure.
He has known chronology.
He has watched years pass.
He has raised children.
He has inhabited the post-Edenic earth.
He has lived beneath the decree of mortality even if his own ending is described differently.
Therefore when mystical tradition places him above, it places memory above.
The bridge has stood on both shores.
מֶטַטְרוֹןMetatronThe celestial identity that Heikhalot literature assigns to the transformed Chanoch. A created being holding an exalted office — never a second deity and never an object of prayer.Glossary is not merely an angel who can look downward.
Chanoch has looked upward from down here.
These are not the same gaze.
Heaven knows light as emission.
Earth knows light as arrival.
Heaven knows command as issuing.
Earth knows command as receiving.
Heaven knows blessing as giving.
Earth knows what blessing feels like when a hungry field opens.
The receiver knows something about purpose that the giver does not reveal in the act of giving alone.
Not because the receiver is greater than the Source.
Because the receiver reveals what the gift was for.
Perhaps this is why Chanoch's human origin never disappears.
The highest celestial function attributed to him still speaks through the name of the man who once walked on soil.
The lower place has entered the palace.
